Dear prospective customer,
You may already have heard or read a lot about made to measure shoes, and maybe you are also owner and wearer of made to measure or bespoke shoes, as the correct English term is known.
Right from the start an important clarification:
We shall be talking here about shoes, which are made exclusively with hand tools and one or two hand-driven auxiliary machines. We are not talking about hand-finished factory-made shoes offered by many proprietary shoemakers as made to measure shoes. Therefore we are shoemakers in the true sense of the word, and not shoe manufacturers.
Another handicraft from which we must distinguish ourselves, is that of the orthopaedic shoemaker. The orthopaedic shoe is used as a form of therapy, and manufactured strictly according to the specifications of the doctor treating the patient. The bespoke shoemaker pays exactly the same attention to the orthopaedic needs of the customer, but does not build his shoes (as one would say technically) according to a recipe.
Maybe you have already gathered what our intention is with this small introduction. We would like to familiarize you with our craft in such a way, that you can judge our products, performance, and last but not least our prices, more carefully for yourself. In order to do this, it is not necessary to know all trade-secrets, although we can willingly reveal some of these if you are interested. It is important to us to show you, in a methodical way, the basic steps and decisive moments in the making of made to measure shoes. There is nothing nicer for us and our colleagues, than serving a well-informed customer.
