Our lasts The origin of every good bespoke shoe is a good last and a good last follows the form of the foot which is more complicated than it might appear to a layman. Due to its complexity and asymmetry, a last which is satisfactory from an orthopaedic point of view presents a technical problem for industrial shoe production. Classic In its orthopaedic structure our last no.1746 is based on our raw bespoke shoe last. The last-formed foot bed, together with our crafted finish, allows a fit that is normally only possible with bespoke shoes. In order to achieve as perfect a fit as possible it is not only the length of the foot which is decisive, but also the circumference of the ball and the instep. At present there is a choice of four standard widths, E ½, F ½, G ½ and H ½ from sizes 5 (38) to 12 (47). Shark This last was developed for the Moccasin Line, in the width fittings F1/2 only and it is distinctly over-long. Following models: 501, 510, 510T, 312 Boot In its pointed form this last corresponds to our “classic” last. The ankle area and instep is, however, formed for “bootees”.
